YardDove ("YardDove", "we", "us", or "our") operates the YardDove mobile application and website at yarddove.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our travel, translation, language learning, and business listing services.

1. Information we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect information such as your name, email address, and password (stored securely). If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive basic profile information permitted by that provider.
Usage and learning data
We collect information about how you use YardDove, including lessons completed, quiz scores, saved phrases, favorites, chat history with our AI practice partner, and subscription status. This helps us personalize your experience and improve our services.
Location data
Location is optional.If you enable location while using Travel features, we use your device's coordinates only while the app is in use to show nearby hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and distances. We do not collect or use location in the background. You can disable location in your device settings at any time.
Microphone and speech
If you use voice translation, pronunciation practice, or speech-to-text, the app may request microphone and speech recognition access. Audio may be processed on your device or sent to our servers or third-party providers for transcription. You can decline these permissions and continue using text-based features.
Device and technical data
We may collect device type, operating system, app version, language settings, IP address, and diagnostic logs to maintain security, fix bugs, and improve performance.
Communications
When you contact us via email, contact form, or feedback, we collect the information you provide so we can respond to your request.
Business listing information
Businesses that submit listings provide business name, contact details, descriptions, images, and related information for publication on YardDove.
2. How we use your information
- Provide translation, travel discovery, lessons, quizzes, and AI chat features
- Process subscriptions and manage your account
- Show nearby places when you choose to share location
- Send service-related notifications (e.g., subscription reminders) where permitted
- Respond to support requests and improve customer service
- Analyze usage to improve features, content, and reliability
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Subscriptions and payments
Paid subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store, Google Play, or our web payment provider (e.g., Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers. Payment platforms handle billing according to their own privacy policies. We receive subscription status, plan type, and transaction identifiers to grant access to premium features.

4. Third-party services
We use trusted third parties to operate YardDove, including:
- Google Places / Maps — nearby place search and place details
- Translation and AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Google) — text translation and AI chat partner
- Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchases and subscriptions
- Stripe — web payments where applicable
- Analytics — aggregated usage statistics when enabled

5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who assist us under confidentiality obligations, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer (with notice where required).
6. Data retention
We retain your information while your account is active and as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request account deletion by emailing support@yarddove.com from your registered email address.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format

8. Children's privacy
YardDove is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International users
YardDove is operated from Jamaica and may process data in other countries where our service providers are located. By using our services, you understand your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data protection laws.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
